FAQ - Frequently asked questions about BluCynk at a glance
⬤ ⬤ ⬤
What exactly is BluCynk?
BluCynk is a newly developed light filter that specifically allows the activating and regenerating components of daylight to pass through while reducing harmful light components such as UV, HEVL, and scattered light. This creates a new light balance that supports the natural rhythm.

When should I wear BluCynk?
BluCynk is worn during the day, especially in the morning or when you experience a lack of light. Ideal for compensating for long periods of screen time or for activating when tired and lacking concentration. BluCynk is also ideal for jet lag—it helps you readjust to your natural rhythm more quickly. Do not use in the evening or at night, as the filter effect tends to make the body more alert.

Are BluCynk sunglasses?
BluCynk is not a classic pair of sunglasses—even though it protects the eyes. The tint corresponds to filter category 1 and is deliberately kept light to provide pleasant glare protection in daylight without darkening the surroundings too much. This makes BluCynk ideal as a light, activating pair of sunglasses, especially for sports and exercise. In extremely bright conditions, such as in the mountains or on the water, stronger light protection may be necessary.

Isn't blue light harmful?
Blue light has high energy potential and can strain the eyes over time, especially in the short-wave range below 450 nm. Artificial lighting and screen work in particular often lack the natural balance provided by regenerative light components. At the same time, blue light is not harmful per se: certain wavelengths (around 480 nm) are important for controlling the internal clock, regulating hormone balance, and getting the body going during the day. BluCynk makes a precise distinction here—and delivers exactly the right light to the eye to provide support without overstimulation.

Who should use BluCynk?
BluCynk is ideal for anyone who doesn’t get enough daylight during the day, spends a lot of time in front of a screen, or has difficulties with the natural day-night rhythm—for example, due to irregular working hours, jet lag, or lack of light in winter. BluCynk can also help the body get back into rhythm if you suffer from poor concentration, listlessness, or morning lethargy. The glasses deliver precisely the right kind of light to the eyes to activate them without overstimulating them.

How does BluCynk modulate light?
BluCynk adjusts the light composition without adding anything: the activating component—especially around 480 nm—is emphasized by attenuatin gall the other wavelenghts. This creates a clear light impulse that wakes you up and supports your internal clock. At the same time, BluCynk blocks highly stressful short-wave blue components below 450 nm and allows beneficial near-infrared light to pass through almost unhindered – for protection, activation, and regeneration in balance.

What is HEVL (high-energy visible light)?
HEVL stands for High Energy Visible Light and refers mainly to the short-wave blue range below 450 nm. This type of light has particularly high energy and is suspected to stress cells in the eye over time — for example, through oxidative processes in the retina and lens. HEVL is especially prevalent in LED and screen light and, with frequent or intense exposure, may contribute to eye strain, glare, or long-term damage.

⬤ ⬤ ⬤
Can BluCynk be worn indoors?
Yes, BluCynk can also be worn indoors – when there is sufficient brightness. The filter modulates the available light to reduce harmful components and emphasize activating wavelengths. However, BluCynk is not useful in dark environments, as the desired light impulse is then lacking.

How do BluCynk glasses differ from BluelightProtect glasses? When should I wear which ones?
BluCynk and BluelightProtect take different approaches: BluCynk specifically emphasizes activating light while reducing stress – ideal in the morning, during the day, or when you are tired and your body needs a clear light impulse.
BluelightProtect, on the other hand, blocks harmful, short-wave blue light even into to the hormone-active range. This is particularly useful when using a screen or under LED lighting, as blue is overemphasized in this light and should therefore be filtered out as much as possible. This is just as important in the evening, of course, when light can disrupt the sleep-wake cycle.
The two filters complement each other perfectly: BluCynk for a targeted boost of daylight, BluelightProtect for effective evening and screen protection. Consciously switching between them helps you stay in tune with your natural rhythm.

Can I wear BluCynk for too long—or overdo it?
BluCynk delivers targeted activating light to the eye – this can be particularly beneficial in the morning and during the day. Usually, 15–30 minutes in daylight is enough to get back into rhythm. However, the glasses can also be worn for longer as long as they are comfortable. If BluCynk is worn too late in the day, however, it can lead to unwanted activation, which can delay the natural process of falling asleep.

⬤ ⬤ ⬤
Can I wear BluCynk while driving?
Yes, BluCynk is suitable for use in traffic during the day and can also be worn while driving. The light tint (filter category 1) with excellent color reproduction ensures clear vision, reduces scattered light and glare, and makes seeing in changing light conditions more comfortable. BluCynk should not be worn at dusk or at night.

How do I use BluCynk when working shifts or suffering from jet lag?
BluCynk can help to reset your day-night rhythm. After long flights, the daylight boost in the morning helps you to adjust to the new time zone more quickly. If you work at night, you can use BluCynk specifically before your night shift: around 15–30 minutes of bright light to get you into wake mode. Wearing the glasses during your shift can also be beneficial, as long as it is comfortable. Important: After work, you should avoid light with an activating effect as much as possible—blue light protection glasses (e.g., BluelightProtect PRO) are recommended here to help your body switch to rest mode.

⬤ ⬤ ⬤
Do weather or season affect the effectiveness of BluCynk?
BluCynk only works in sufficient daylight. On most days, it is bright enough outdoors—even when it is cloudy or in winter. However, in very cloudy weather or in dimly lit indoor spaces, the amount of activating light may be too low. Tip: If possible, go outside or sit close to a window—and if necessary, supplement with open windows or additional light sources.

Can I wear BluCynk while exercising?
Yes, BluCynk is ideal for outdoor physical activity. The filter specifically directs the activating components of daylight to the eye – for greater alertness, focus, and feeling energized while moving. The light tint allows you to see your surroundings clearly without glare. Ideal for a morning walk, a run during your lunch break, or active moments in between.
